Heartbr<3ken is a relaxing game meant to make you feel like you're 14 again and experiencing your first breakup. Wait, how is that relaxing? Play computer games on your Windows 95 computer to overcome obstacles such as tidying your room. As you play games you get the motivation to slowly but surely, move on.
Gameplay.
Heartbr<3ken is a multi-playstyle game experience featuring both point-and-click exploration segments and Undertale-inspired battle modes. The player is transported into the battle sequence by clicking the play button on the computer within the point-and-click room. The core concept revolves around exploring nostalgia for games that hold significance during challenging moments in one's life. By offering separate play modes, the game effectively portrays the sensation of being engrossed and consumed by a virtual world, only to be abruptly pulled back into reality. Developed using Unity, Heartbr<3ken is an immersive journey through gaming and personal reflection.

Design.
I wanted to design this game to be reminiscent of a muted but colorful memory. Even though there is a certain melancholy to these memories, it also explores feelings of safety, childhood, self-contentment, and tranquility. Personally, there have been many times in my life when I became obsessed with a video game to distract from something unpleasant and I wanted to communicate that through this game experience. This piece functions also as an art project as all assets were hand drawn by me.
